Gently rebalance the energy in your body
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle energy rebalancing technique that originated in Japan. It can be traced back to Mikao Usui, a Buddhist monk who was taught the basics of Reiki during an enlightenment retreat in 1922.
The word Rei means universal in Japanese, and the word Ki refers to the vital energy that circulates within us.
Reiki therefore means: universal life energy.
This notion of vital energy has been recognized for thousands of years in Eastern medicine. Called Ki by the Japanese, Chi by the Chinese and prana by the Indians, it circulates in the body through the meridians or chakras. When blocked, it can lead to problems and illness.
Historically, Reiki developed in Japan and Hawaii. It then spread to the United States, Australia and many Western countries.
Reiki is even practiced in some hospitals in the United States and England.
The benefits of a Reiki session
- relaxes body and mind;
- brings a deep sense of well-being
- relieves all types of pain, physical or emotional;
- improves sleep quality;
- enables deep and lasting work on stress and emotions;
- improves self-confidence;
- helps with concentration problems ;
- acts preventively on the causes of imbalance, to prevent the onset of disease;
- reinforces the body’s natural defenses;
- stimulates the self-healing process;
- releases energy blockages;
- helps to raise awareness.
Reiki is beneficial for anyone in need of support and guidance in difficult situations. In this way, the person can face their daily personal and/or professional life in the most balanced and serene way possible.
Accompaniment by a reiki practitioner is also highly recommended for certain illnesses, as well as before and after surgery.
Reiki is also very useful for children: in particular, it can help them improve their self-confidence, free themselves from any fears they may have, be calmer and more serene in their school or family environment, and adapt to stressful school rhythms.
How does a Reiki session work?
A Reiki session lasts an hour on average. However, you should allow 1h15 for the first time.
During the session, the practitioner acts as a channel for universal energy.
First, sessions begin with a discussion on the client’s medical history so as to understand their needs and expectations.
Next, the practitioner places his or her hands on or within a few centimetres of a succession of specific points on the person’s body to transmit this energy. This dissolves blockages, restores the body’s energy flow and regenerates the organism. Patients generally feel a sense of well-being and relaxation, which helps them to relate to others and gain perspective.
In general, the treatment starts at the head and ends at the feet.
The session ends with a discussion of the client’s feelings, the benefits he has observed and his emotional reactions.
Reiki, a simple and powerful treatment
Reiki is a simple yet very powerful treatment that acts on all aspects of the person:
- Physical
- Emotional
- Mental
- Energy
Reiki is also a spiritual and philosophical path. It helps to develop sensitivity, strengths and natural abilities such as intuition, and to unlock one’s potential.
Reiki is a practice from which everyone can benefit. It can be used alone or in conjunction with other techniques.
How often should I practice Reiki?
The frequency of sessions depends on the individual and his or her motivations.
If it’s for prevention or relaxation, sessions can be monthly, for example, or more spaced out.
For those suffering from a specific health issue (stress, insomnia, digestive problems, etc.), we recommend 3 to 5 sessions spaced one to two weeks apart. They can then continue at their own pace to maintain the balance they’ve established.
